What is the vision for skills in Europe in the future?
On the initiative of Belgium, the national coordinators of the Member States participating in the European Year of Skills drafted a Statement, addressed to the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament. This document, which will be delivered on 30 April 2024, summarizes the main lessons learned from this year rich in collaboration, and aims to share the experience gained in order to contribute to the development of the Union's future employment and training policies. This initiative aims to take full advantage of the partnerships and exchanges made during the year, highlighting successes and challenges encountered.
The aim is to inspire the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament with valuable insights and practical recommendations that will help shape effective policies to build skills in the Eu and to keeping skills high on the agenda, even after the year has come to an end
Beyond the European Year of Skills – Maintaining the Momentum
In this Statement, the national coordinators prioritize several key areas to address the challenges and opportunities in European labor markets. The main areas of action include integrating skills into all policies, promoting lifelong learning and upskilling, fostering workplace-based learning, recognizing the value of all skills, aligning skills with labor market needs, and promoting inclusive labor markets. Furthermore, the statement emphasizes the importance of collaboration and partnerships among stakeholders and the continuing focus on skills development to ensure Europe's socio-economic future and competitiveness.
